Delhi's Air Quality Plummets to 'Severe' Level, Tops List of Most Polluted Cities

On Monday, November 4, 2024, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped to 410, entering the 'Severe' category due to post-Diwali pollution and stubble burning in neighboring states.
Agra topped the list of most polluted cities with an AQI of 424, followed by Delhi at 408, while Channarayapatna in Karnataka had the cleanest air with an AQI of 8.
A survey revealed that 69% of families in Delhi-NCR have at least one member suffering from pollution-related illnesses, including sore throat, breathing issues, and cough.
The air quality deteriorated from 393 to 410 within 24 hours, with Noida and Gurugram also experiencing 'Very Poor' air quality levels.
The ongoing festive season, coupled with stubble burning in neighboring states, has been identified as a major contributor to Delhi's worsening air quality.
