Revolutionary Carbon Capture Powder Could Help Combat Climate Change

Scientists have developed a groundbreaking powder called covalent organic framework (COF) that can efficiently capture carbon dioxide from the air, potentially aiding in climate change mitigation.
The powder, composed of organic molecules, forms a highly porous structure with an enormous internal surface area, allowing it to trap significant amounts of CO2.
COF can capture CO2 at concentrations as low as 400 parts per million, making it effective for direct air capture, and it releases the trapped gas when heated to about 80°C.
The material outperforms other carbon capture technologies, absorbing 1.8 times its weight in CO2 at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.
While still in early stages, researchers believe COF could be scaled up for industrial use, potentially revolutionizing carbon capture and storage efforts globally.
