Army Officer Assaulted at NCC Camp in Kerala Following Food Poisoning Incident

On December 23, 2024, over 80 NCC cadets fell ill due to suspected food poisoning at KMM College in Thrikkakara, Kerala, during a 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp.
Following the incident, two men, identified as a local councillor and a left party leader, along with others, barged into the camp and assaulted Lt Colonel Karnail Singh.
A video surfaced showing Lt Colonel Singh being shoved against a wall, grabbed by the throat, and threatened with a knife-like object by the assailants.
Two individuals, Nishad from Fort Kochi and Navas from Palluruthi, were arrested on December 30, 2024, for their involvement in the assault on the Army officer.
The Additional Director General of NCC has ordered a Brigadier-led inquiry into the food poisoning incident, while police have filed cases against the accused for trespassing and assault.
