The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Naveen Patnaik has decided that its MPs will abstain from voting in the Vice Presidential election scheduled for September 9, 2025.
This decision reflects BJD’s policy of maintaining an equal distance from both the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led INDIA bloc at the national level.
Senior party leaders and the Political Affairs Committee were consulted before finalizing the decision to abstain from voting.

The Vice Presidential election contest is between NDA’s CP Radhakrishnan and INDIA bloc’s Justice (Retd.) B Sudershan Reddy, with BJD choosing neutrality by abstaining.
